Technical Consultant - Trading Systems - Tokyo

Computer People are working with a global market leader in high-performance innovative real-time solutions for electronic trading, position management, pricing, risk management and downstream processing company.

Role & Responsibilities:
Working as part of our Client Services team, you will be responsible for carrying out on-going software development work on client-sites, as directed by your manager/team leader. Client sites may be in London or at one of the other international financial centres.

The development work may include product installation, systems integration, product customisation, client specific software development, site support, bug fixing, and training.

In addition to the technical development work you may be required to carry out some business analysis, team leading or project management duties.

You will have a strong desire to problem solve, have an inquisitive nature, be persistent and reliable and pay meticulous attention to details. Willingness to travel is also a key requirement.

Essential Skills
- Experience of development in a UNIX environment, use of shell scripts and other UNIX tools
- Experience with Java/C++ or other structured programming language and at least one of the desirable technical skills listed below.
- Degree level education in Computer Science or Electronic/ Electrical Engineering, or in a numerate discipline.

Desirable Skills
- Post-graduate qualification – Masters or Ph.D
- Participation in complex software development projects
- Application development in client facing environment
- Business experience in the financial sector
- Exposure to formal QA procedures
- Proven team leading and/or project management experience
- Perl and/or Java programming experience
- Relational database experience (Sybase or Oracle)
- Experience of development in NT environment.
- Microsoft .NET and C#
- CORBA

It is essential that applicants must speak business level Japanese and English.
